A new Star Wars: Battlefront 2 TV spot has given fans their first glimpse of the game’s Crait map, an upcoming piece of DLC which will tie into Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The planet of Crait will play an important role in Rian Johnson’s Episode VIII movie, hosting a sizeable confrontation between The First Order and The Resistance. It has been teased in the trailers for the film, with the splashes of red dust – for want of a better term - providing several eye-catching moments.

If it weren’t for that red dust, the confrontation on Crait would look a lot like the Hoth battle from The Empire Strikes Back, pitting small good guy fighters against sizeable walkers and swathes of Stormtroopers within a washed-out white landscape. Crait is also notable for its native crystal fox species, the vulptexes, which will help The Resistance in the upcoming movie.

In the opening seconds of this brief TV spot, which debuted on ESPN last night, you can see a handful of fleeting shots from Battlefront 2’s in-game iteration of the Crait battle.
In keeping with what fans have seen in The Last Jedi trailers, there is one shot here of a Resistance fighter crashing into the surface of Crait and kicking up a lot of that red dust (which is rumored to tie in with Crait’s pre-war purpose as a mining planet). Another shot in the TV spot shows The First Order’s fearsome forces: a row of giant walkers and a scattering of Stormtroopers, beginning their clash with The Resistance.

It is worth noting that these Stormtroopers have different uniforms than the new batch of Snowtroopers that was unveiled recently. This makes sense because, despite its visual similarity to Hoth, Crait is believed to be a warm planet rather than an icy one. It should be interesting to see how the battle in the game compares to the one in the film.
However, you might be worried about downloading extra content for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 considering all of the bad press it has been getting about pay-to-win mechanics and in-game microtransactions. This time, though, you needn’t fear: for owners of the game, The Last Jedi DLC pack will be free. There is a lot of stuff you need to pay for in Battlefront 2, but this DLC isn’t one of them.

The game featured a storyline that bridged the gap between Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens, but is Star Wars Battlefront 2 canon? The first Expanded Universe Star Wars novel came in the form of Alan Dean Foster's Splinter Of The Mind's Eye. The story involved Luke and Leia crashlanding on a swampy planet whilst being hunted by Darth Vader. This story was originally conceived by George Lucas as a potential low-budget sequel to the original movie in case it underperformed, which would allow him to reuse props and shoot on a soundstage. Thankfully, the movie proved to be a landmark success, resulting in Splinter becoming a book instead.

The Star Wars Expanded Universe would grow exponentially in size and scope in the years that followed, resulting in countless comics, novel, video games, and animated shows. These stories kept the franchise alive in between Return Of The Jedi and The Phantom Menace and added beloved new heroes and villains. The EU had grown so vast and convoluted by the time Disney announced a new slate of films that it was later dubbed Star Wars Legends, rendering most of the EU non-canon.
Related: Why Genndy Tartakovsky's Star Wars: Clone Wars Isn't Canon
Some previous EU projects like the 3D animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars series remained canonical, however. Video game Star Wars Battlefront 2 was released in 2017 and became controversial for many reasons and received backlash due to its use of micro-transactions. Unlike the original game, it features a story that covers the decades between Return Of The Jedi and Disney's new films. Fans will be happy to know Battlefront 2 is canon, but how much of it is actually important?

The biggest reveal from Star Wars Battlefront 2'sstory is Operation: Cinder, which was a contingency enacted by Emperor Palpatine after his apparent demise. He delivers his posthumous orders in the form of a droid, with Empire forces instructed to devastate planets in revenge for his defeat. Battlefront 2's protagonist Iden Versio becomes ideologically opposed to the sheer brutality of this plan, especially when her homeworld is targeted, leading her to defect to the rebels. The game also ties into the end of Return Of The Jedi, with Iden witnessing the destruction of the second Death Star.
Iden also took part in the Battle Of Jakku, which saw the final defeat of the Empire. The introduction to Rey (Daisy Ridley, Chaos Walking) during The Force Awakens finds her scavaging parts from old battlecruisers from this battle. What was left of the Empire following this defeat would scurry away and rebuild in the form of the First Order. Certain chapters of the single-player story also allow players to control iconic characters, including a section with Luke Skywalker on Pillo. He becomes friendly with Iden's squadmate Del and Luke finds a special compass during this mission. This is the same one he holds in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and presumably led him to the First Jedi Temple.

Another mission involves a bearded Han Solo and Chewie in Maz Kanata's castle, which is seen again decades later in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The game also reveals Iden and Del had a daughter but while many theorized their child was Rey, the Battlefront 2: Resurrection DLC eventually revealed their daughter is Zay Versio. While Star War Battlefront 2 is canon, much of the story ultimately has little impact on the movies. Outside of Operation: Cinder and how Paltapine appeared to be orchestrating his comeback in the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the plot is relatively inessential.

- 100 postsMemberI'm not really sure what you're trying to say, are you saying you can't change the game settings from inside the game? Or is fullscreen giving issues when it is set to that?
- 4 postsMemberI'm traying to say that inside the game option are on full screen but I think my computer open it in window and I can't change it

- 100 postsMemberWhy not use borderless windowed? It looks exactly like full screen, except for you can alt tab out to desktop much easier.

- 100 postsMemberI used to use fullscreen all the time, then in some games like Ryse: Son of Rome for example won't work with alt tab if you want to go to desktop and search online for guides or locations of collectibles. Sometimes it even causes game to crash or freeze when I try to alt tab out with fullscreen. So I started using borderless windowed and it works like a charm, you can get into desktop instantly without any problems, and it looks nothing different from fullscreen.
- 1 postsMemberI have this same probelm I use GF GTX 960m and when I have deskopt on 4k also in game have this same. When I try to change is still in 4k. Problem with fullscreen is with wrong name casue with windowbroder is fullscreen.
- 1 postsMemberSame problem here, tried everything, now I'm playing with hidden start menu. though some times the name bar on top of the window gets annoying.
Does the borderless windows solve that? How do I set it?
Thank you - 100 postsMemberI'm not sure what hidden start menu you are talking about, since I haven't experienced it (within borderless windowed mode). But you can set borderless windowed mode in the video options of the game, there's the 3 options : fullscreen, windowed, and borderless windowed; just choose the borderless windowed. I'm not sure if it will fix your menu problem, but you can give it a try.
- 4 postsMemberThanks guys! Borderless windowed works!! You need to set it in game and video option. Thank you again and may the force be with you!
- 1 postsMemberNovember 21, 2015 2:35AMedited November 2015the borderless windowed mode will steal about 5-10 fps.
any game that is not running in full screen mode will steal fps due that its not full screen. the pc is not giving a 100% attention to the game. it focuses on other things in the background.
i play the same way. set the start menu to 'hidden' mode but still see the headline up there that says STAR WARS Battlefront.
its set to full screen yet it starts like windowed mode. but its full screen. man is sounds wierd but thats it.
if anyone comes up with something let us know. thanks - 100 postsMemberFor me, I only lose about 2-3 fps, but that's true you lose a little bit of fps. But that's better than not being able to play at all if fullscreen is causing a 'fatal' problem. This is just a temporary solution for those that are having problems with fullscreen, assuming they'll fix the problem, if not, then sucks for us.

- 1 postsMemberDecember 26, 2015 10:35PMedited December 2015So as a fan I had to look this game over to buy. then i remember how i and a substantial amount of people who have bought another EA game, Dragon Age: inquisition, essentially got screwed over with a game not running on fullscreen and instead running on borderless window mode thinking it was the fix. this is the thread we started: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age-Inquisition/NVidia-Optimus-GTX00M-Cannot-Run-in-Fullscreen-Mode/td-p/3989581/highlight/false.
It will highlight how borderless window mode with rob you of fps since its not true fullscreen. this matter was never really fixed more than a year ago. to think i would give another EA game a chance. im glad i looked this over if it had fullscreen issues for PC players .. especially those with gtx8xxm/gtx9xxm gpus & or optimus running on their laptop.
tl:dr
EA wont release a patch to fix your game. intel . nvidia wont release a fix either. you will have to live with the fact you paid money for a game that wont run right. AND NO. the devs did not accidentally make a mistake with renaming full screen mode to borderless window vice versa in the settings.. Playing borderless full screen mode takes away 5-10 fps from your game average.
Im just putting this out there because even though the updated thread says upgrading to windows 10 fixed the dragon age no fullscreen problemes for some, battlefront as one person already reported isnt running true fullscreen on their windows 10. - 1 postsMembersame solution for me, thanks Shnaidar
I disabled team viewer.works a treat.
Specifically it's the option that allows you to share a window (small arrows in the top right of the window, which look like <-> )
You can disable for specific apps but I just turned it off completely.
cheers. - 1 postsMemberSamsung Magician caused Battlefront and Battlefield 4 to be unplayable in full screen and borderless with Windows 10.
Exited the program (running in background) and poof all good.
Good luck! - 2 postsMemberI don5 niviadia or whatever i have Intel on windows 10 my solution was to just play it in windowed regular windowed mode with no web pages or apps running its stupid you have to play with it like that

- 1 postsMemberHey, i actually found a solution which actually worked for me. I'm glad to help you all )).
So basically my problem was that Battlefield Hardline, nor Need for speed were going fullscreen even when i enabled it, even if i pressed alt enter. So i went to my nvidia settings and i remembered that i had boosted my Hz for a smoother image on my screen for my eyes, from 60hz to 75hz. And the way to fix this is by setting it back to its original settings. For me 60hz . Thank you hope it helps - 1 postsMemberApril 6, 2016 7:20AMedited April 2016Where can i find my NVIDIA settings? I have the same peoblem in battlefront and need for speed.
A few days ago fullscreen option in star wars battlefront worked but now it doesn't.

If you are yet to get your hands on the 2017 Star Wars Battlefront II but you still have access to the classic 2005 Star Wars: Battlefront II, then perhaps it is time to try the mods and enjoy your classic better as you wait to try your hands on the latest version of the game. This mod loader tutorial only works on the steam version of the game.
What Do You Need to Install the Mods?
To set up your game for mod installation, you will first need the mod loader and you will have to be sure that your PC can handle the requirements. Lucky enough, since this is a 2005 game we are dealing with, the requirements aren’t more than a standard computer can handle. You will need:
- .Net framework 4.5
- 3 MB free disk space
- An extra 900 MB free space if you have to install .Net Framework
- Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 or newer
- 1GHz processor or better
- 2GB HDD
- 512 MB RAM
Installing the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Mod Loader
After you have downloaded the mod loader .exe from here
- Extract the archive and put all files in the Battlefront II mod loader folder inside the gamedata file
- Launch the application
- Rename your mods if you want
- Add launch parameters in settings or from within steam (this is optional)
To install the actual mods once you have the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Mod loader up and running
- Extract the mod archive to a location of your choice
- Browse through the extracted files and look for the subfolder with three letter names, for instance, BFX, and move it into the addon folder.
- The addon folder is inside your gamedata folder and has a file named addme.script
Alternatively, you can skip downloading the mod installer and just handle the installation manually.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 2005 Black Screen Fix
- Navigate to C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonStar Wars Battlefront IIGameData and create a file named addon
- Alternatively, you can go to your Steam game library, Go to Properties then click the ‘Local Files’ tab. This will let you browse local files and you can add the addon folder.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 Wiki
To install mods, just extract the mod and place it in the addon folder you just created above.
Remember that your game will crash from the 500 mission limit if you have too many mods in place. You can either delete some of the mods or just move them into a addon_inactive folder and move them back when you need them.
Some of the mods you can look out for include:
- Battlefront Evolved (a graphic enhancement mod that is online compliable)
- Razzed maps (A graphics enhancement mod that is online compatible)
- In-game skin changer
- Mos Eisley Spaceport map addon
- Coruscant City Droid Invasion map addon
